The LACD Ultimate Ferrata S self-belay set is intended for use by adults weighing more than 40 kg and less than 120 kg; including a backpack and climbing equipment. The self-belay set consists of two elastic straps to which two via ferrata carabiners with automatic locking are attached. This allows for worry-free climbing, as it is not possible for the carabiners to open by themselves or accidentally, which would no longer protect you from falling.
You open the carabiners by pressing them into your palm, which releases the door to open. When closing, the door locks itself.
The self-belay kit also includes a fall absorber. Thanks to the innovative UHMPE technology, the Pro Evp 2.0 self-belay kit is reliable and durable.
UHMPE stands for Ultra-High-Molecularweight Polyethylene. These are fibers with particularly long polyethylene chains. The properties of UHMPE, compared to other fibers used in mountaineering equipment, are: high breaking strength, low volume and weight, low water absorption, completely static (low elongation), high UV resistance, as well as a low melting point.
The biggest advantage of this self-belay kit is that it has a device built in between the container and the loops, which prevents the loops from becoming entangled during use. The device rotates in all directions; just as the user turns, and the loops with them.
