Juliana trail guide
Juliana Trail Guide
The Juliana Trail is a 270-kilometer-long hiking trail that encompasses the entire eastern part of the Julian Alps. On it, we will not climb Triglav or other peaks, but will circle it through alpine valleys, along rivers and lakes, through forests and over passes. We will walk outside the main tourist routes, experiencing the diversity and uniqueness of our mountains through authentic experiences.
Juliana also connects some of our most famous tourist destinations, such as Kranjska Gora, Bled, Bohinj and Bovec, but it is led as much as possible through less visited valleys and places, in many places along old, almost forgotten routes.
Since the trail is circular, it can be started anywhere, but officially it starts in Kranjska Gora, follows the Sava Dolinka to Radovljica, passes Bled, climbs to Pokljuka, descends to Bohinj and over the Tolmin-Bohinj ridge descends to Baška grapa and further towards Most na Soči. From here we follow the course of the Soča River and return to the Sava River valley, to Kranjska Gora, via Predel and past the Belopeška Lakes.
Individual stages are enriched with descriptions of interesting places along the way and local stories prepared by Katja Humar.
The basic circuit can be expanded in Kobarid with a three-day hike around Breginjski kot or in Tolmin, turn onto the Kanalsko-Brida loop to Solkan.
