In the following post, we will convince you why you should always carry an ultralight bivy bag with you.

When heading to the mountains or a nearby hill, there is always a possibility that, despite all our caution, an accident might occur. Usually, such situations are further intensified by a combination of circumstances. That’s why we wholeheartedly recommend carrying a lightweight bivy sack with you.

Why?

If an accident happens and you are injured, or you come across someone who is injured, a bivy sack will ensure that the victim suffers less from hypothermia. Simply cover the person with the bivy sack to prevent further cooling. The inside of the bivy sack is lined with a special foil that retains 90% of body heat, making it easier to wait for rescuers.

Such a bivy sack can also serve as temporary shelter if you get lost and don’t know how to continue your journey. It will also help you survive the night in case of an unplanned bivouac or sudden worsening of the weather.

A bivy sack should be in every backpack, as a single one weighs only 150g.
